by Jack on August 11, 2015

Best rated home treadmills under $1000 (last updated May 2016) – We don’t sell treadmills but we do review and give our opinions on which models are best. We feel confident in our opinions since we have nearly 2 decades of experience in the industry and well over 20 years of using different brands ourselves.

See our recommendations below. But first, we do want to give you a few words of advice you can take with once you leave our site. There are many different models in the under $1000 price range to choose from, understanding how to best judge the quality of these different models can be (its not rocket science) but it can be confusing, especially for a person buying a home treadmill for the first time.

There are 5 core areas to examine:

  • Motor
  • Frame
  • Tread belt
  • Cushion System
  • Warranty

Before giving consideration to any accessories (does it have speakers? workout programs? a cup holder?) to get the highest quality best performing model for the money spent its very important to first examine the 5 areas listed above.  With our recommendations listed below we have already taken these 5 areas into consideration. If you are interested in learning more on how to judge these qualities we have laid out more specific information.

best treadmills under $1000

LifeSpan TR 1200i

We hate giving the same recommendations as other review sites but if you have spent any time researching, our first recommendation in this price range is bound to look familiar.

The model we are referring to, the LifeSpan TR 1200i Folding Treadmill (Price: $999it is the most expensive model on our list. But since it does fit the under $1000 theme of this page we needed to include it.

Getting anything noticeably better will cost you $500-1000 more.

Less expensive choices

ProForm Power 995i

Another model you may be interested in is the ProForm Power 995i (Price: $849about $150 cheaper than the LifeSpan model above.

The more affordable ProForm Power 995i actually beats the LifeSpan TR 1200i in a couple important criteria.

It provides a larger and more powerful motor (3.0 hp vs. 2.5). Which allows the maximum running speed to be 12 mph compared to 11 mph.

It also has a slightly larger platform for walking, jogging, running.  Whatever your activity.

The platform of the ProForm 995i is measured at 20 x 60 inches, while the LifeSpan 1200i provides an area of 20 x 56 inches. Not a huge difference but worth mentioning.

However, this is not a folding treadmill, something those looking to save on space need to keep in mind.

Read our ProForm 995i review and rating.

Special Attention: If you are wanting to save space with a folding treadmill, the LifeSpan Fitness TR 2000-HRC model with a price of $800 is one to consider. Read our review of this model.

best treadmills under 1000 review

Weslo Cadence G 5.9

One option coming in at just under $300 is the Weslo Cadence G 5.9 Treadmill (Price:$287a fairly simple bare bones model worth taking a look at if it’s in your price range.

By the way, we have received many questions asking if the woman in the picture comes with the treadmill. She was recently discontinued for causing too many headaches and costly shipping returns. HA-HA.

Of course we are only joking!

This is a compact folding treadmill. The platform is a little smaller compared to the more expensive models already listed but when you hop on it and start using it you will realize there’s plenty of room.

It’s great for walking and also durable enough for jogging. Also includes two incline settings.

Sunny Health & Fitness

Our next model, the Sunny Health & Fitness Treadmill is a bit more expensive than the Weslo Cadence G 5.9 model listed above but still very affordable at $391.

The extra $100 or so in price does provide a few extra options and or features.

Such as a slightly larger walking/running platform, a larger more powerful motor, as well as 3 incline settings. This is also a folding treadmill to help save on space and storage.

This is the newest model on the page coming out in early 2015 and has since received excellent ratings and reviews from buyers.

Any models worth buying under $200

To be completely honest, you’re entering fairly shaky waters when searching for quality at these prices. We do have a few recommendations but realize these are very simple machines. They don’t provide advanced features and well, some of them are manual models, meaning they are not even powered by a motor.

A few choices to consider:

  • Searchbuystor 500W folding electric treadmill – Reviewed
  • Phoenix 98510 Manual Running Machine – Reviewed
  • Confidence Fitness Magnetic model – Reviewed

Nothing spectacular about any of the three models listed above. However, if you something cheap for home fitness, they do provide quality based on the price.

When we rate the top three choices above we are speaking from actual experience as we had the opportunity to test each model ourselves. We can also say from reading opinions and reviews from other owners/users, our conclusions matches their expressed satisfaction.

Buying the best Conclusion

As we stated at the beginning of this review page finding and buying the best treadmill for under $1000 can be a bit tricky, as there are many different models on the market to choose from.

The models we have listed through-out this page we have firsthand experience using. We also based our decision to include each specific model on what others recommend and also based on qualities such as size, safety features, ergonomics, high-tech features, adjustability, assembly and warranty.

There are a lot of treadmills on the market to choose from and new models are always being introduced. Although we feel very confident we have recommended the top quality models currently available in 2015-2016 we do know it’s possible we have overlooked something so we are constantly keeping our eyes peeled.
