Review of a combination exercise machine

Is this really good buy? Will it help you accomplish your weight loss and fitness goals? The Bowflex Treadclimber TC20 is one of the most versatile cardio machines available. This is a 3-in-1 machine: Treadmill, stair climber and elliptical. These different movements are also

When writing this review in 2015 it was priced around $3000. A bit expensive. However, if you are committed to getting in shape, especially, your legs and abs, it works great and is well worth the money spent. But it’s not a magical machine, if you don’t use it you will not reach your goals.

The following video provides an excellent overall review of the quality of this machines build and also answers many of the common questions. And also addresses some of the myths you may have read.

Bowflex TreadClimber TC20 review

Is this Bowflex machine better than a treadmill? We could write an entire article over this (in fact we did). However, to give a brief answer here both types of exercise machines have advantages and the answer of which is better would be based entirely on an individual needs.

For instance, the Treadclimber is definitely easier on the joints and because it a 3-in-1 machine (treadmill, stair climber and elliptical) it will be less tedious as it allows you to change up your work-out.

On the other hand, when using it as a treadmill, the tread belt’s top speed is only 4.5 MPH, which would be around a 12 minute mile pace. Which for the average person is probably only a jogging pace. So a treadmill would be a better fit for runners.

There’s a much more to say on the subject of which is better. Compare the disadvantage and advantages of each.

Bowflex Treadclimber TC20 Features

Bowflex claims this is the best cardio machine they ever produced. It should be. I was using Bowflex in my best friends basement back in the late 1980’s. Yes, of course their newest machines should be better than their older machines. If not they would be going backwards…

Features that come with it:

First, we want to mention a new type of technology built into this machine. They call it G.O. Coach (Goal-Oriented), I believe this is the first time they have offered it, so far it has received positive feedback from users so we suspect it will become a staple in future products.

No matter what you do in life, one of the major keys to success in anything is having and setting goals. Having and setting small short-term goals and reaching these will ultimately help you reach your long-term goals and you also learn a lot along the way.

This is the philosophy behind G.O. Coach (Goal-Oriented) Technology it allows the use to customize and set personal goals. Then interacts with the user and monitors progress. It also allows the user to compare their work-out results to the results of their previous workouts.

Additionally, besides allowing you to customize and set goals the technology also provides another very important feature in regards to helping you succeed.

Maybe out of fear, lack of confidence, laziness or just not being familiar with your own potential, sometimes this causes us set our goals too low. The G.O. Coach provides 3 challenges helping you to reach past your minimal goals helping as a personal trainer or coach would, pushing you to maximize your potential.

Other features:

  • A compact design (another advantage over a treadmill) fits great in the home. Dimensions measure (W x H x L) 31.5 x 55.25 x 55 – inches.
  • Quality built frame provides a 300 lbs weight capacity.
  • LCD center console – measures and displays speed, distance, time, calories burnt and heart rate.
  • Upgraded foot treadles (longer, more comfortable) compared to the older bowflex Treadclimber TC10 model.
  • Two user, stores and tracks workout information
  • 3-year warranty on the entire machine.
  • Bowflex weight loss guide

The Bottom Line

Although we agree the Bowflex Treadclimber TC20 is a little expensive, there’s a lot to like. There’s also at least one reason why this may not be the right choice for some people.

If you are a runner who wants to run at high speeds inside your home then this would not be a good match for you since the tread belts top speed is only 4.5 MPH.

However, if you are not planning to run a marathon and are more interested in weight-loss, cardio fitness and overall lower body sculpting then this is a highly effective exercise machine to have at your disposal.

Not saying you couldn’t accomplish these general fitness goals with a treadmill but what makes the Bowflex Treadclimber TC20 a little different is that it’s a 3-in-1 machine: Treadmill, stair climber and elliptical. It also provides a lower impact workout on joints.
