How fast can you run on the Welso G 5.9 Treadmill

by Jack on March 7, 2016

We received a question from a lady interested in buying the Welso G 5.9 Treadmill for her and her husband to run on in their home. She was curious how fast can you run on this model.

The simple answer – this model’s motor can reach a top speed of 10 MPH. This means 10MPH/60 minutes = 6 minutes. Meaning it can set a 6 minute mile pace for the runner.

But is it a good choice for running – Here’s the more difficult part of the question to address. While we do believe the Welso G 5.9 treadmill does provide a certain amount of value for the price the truth is we would not recommend this model to serious runners.

The company specifications – state this model comes with a 2.25 horsepower impulse motor. These specifications also state the motor is capable of producing a 10 MPH speed.

However, a 2.25 horsepower motor isn’t huge and from our experience for a motor of this size to produce 10 MPH speed this it means that it will need to run at higher RPM’s (revolutions per minute) compared to a larger motor with more torque.

The effect of higher RPM’s – This will ultimately cause more wear and tear on a motor. This will decrease the lifetime of the motor. Something to take notice of – the warranty only guarantees the motor for 1-year. Considering many models provide a 10-year to lifetime guarantee on the motor the 1-year guarantee for this Welso Cadence G 5.9 model is suspiciously short and should make you question the overall quality.

The bottom line – This is a very basic and affordable treadmill. We would have no problem recommending it to a person who plans to exercise by walking, maybe some occasional jogging. But in no way would we recommend this model to a person who plans to use it for hardcore running.
