Is the frame important – The LifeSpan TR4000i treadmill

by Jack on May 5, 2016

This is probably more boring for me to write than it is to read but yes knowing at least a little bit about the quality of the frame before buying a treadmill will be important and it also ties into the maximum user weight capacity. Here we will discuss (briefly) the frame of the LifeSpan TR4000i treadmill. The material it is manufactured from and also a little bit on the warranty provided.

We also have an overall review of this model, rating the five most important areas to look at before buying.

What you should know about frames

Basically, treadmill frames are made from either steel or aluminum. We are here to tell you, not only is this our opinion but the opinion of just about everyone we talk to a steel frame is the best option. And most people might think it’s because steel is stronger.

However, this is not the reason because steel and aluminum have just about the same tensile strength. By the way, the frame of the LifeSpan TR4000i treadmill is made from steel and provides a 350 pound user weight capacity. This is very good.

Why is steel the better choice

There are a number of different reasons we have heard from different people. From our experience there are two main reasons.

#1 – Frames consist of more than one part. Steel parts fit together tighter. Overall this is just better. But also, this tighter fit compared to aluminum helps reduce the noise the treadmill makes when in use.

#2 – Many people, myself included feel steel frames provide a bit of a bounce in your step compared to aluminum frames which have more of a flat or dead feeling.

So if you missed it above, the frame of the LifeSpan TR4000i is manufactured from steel. If you are interested in learning more about this model visit our review page where we rate the five most important areas to look at before buying a treadmill.

We also have question and answer page which covers the most common questions asked about this model.

We also want to say this model provides a lifetime warranty on the frame.
