Motor Rating – Sunny Health and Fitness Treadmill

by Jack on March 12, 2016

The motor is obviously one of the most important parts of a treadmill. Here we will review what we think about the the motor of the Sunny Health & Fitness Treadmill.

Sunny Health & Fitness Motor review

Quality Motor?

There are three primary areas which we feel are the most important to understand. These are:

  • Overall quality and durability
  • Performance
  • Warranty

We will grad this model’s motor in the criteria listed above. The principles we use here can be applied to virtually any treadmill on the market.

Let’s get started with the rating

Overall quality and durability – Overall this model has received very good ratings from customers or current owners. When we rate the overall quality of a motor we are usually looking for one thing. That one thing is the type of motor.

What we like to see is “Continuous Duty Horsepower” or the acronym CHP. We undoubtedly believe this style is both the most efficient and durable. When looking at this Horizon Fitness model, in the product specifications we see it has a 2.20 Peak HP drive system.

We have absolutely no doubt this is not equal to the quality and efficiency provided by a the Continuous Duty Horsepower (CHP) style.

***Quality Rating – we are unwilling to give the motor a high rating in overall quality or durability. However, what we will say, when it comes to home treadmill prices this model is very affordable, you can say cheap. Judging from the many positive customer reviews we have read it seems to meet most customers expectations based on the amount of money they spent to own it.

Performance – The motor is a 2.20 horsepower. Maybe an extremely light weight person can run on this model. But we stress, maybe! This is not a high-performance model we would recommend to runners. If you are looking for a budget model to exercise with walking or jogging this could meet your needs.

***Performance Rating – We would have to give this a low-performance rating. This is a model you would use for walking or jogging not training for a marathon.

Warranty – The warranty of a treadmill is a very important piece of information you should look at. We searched for information on this and we have not found any information on a warranty on the motor.

***Warranty Rating – Poor.

Take it with a grain of salt

Our goal here is honesty. The fact is, in terms of treadmill prices, the Sunny Health & Fitness Treadmill is a very basic and cheap model to buy for the home. When writing this review over the quality of the motor in 2016 we believe it was priced in the under $400 price range.

If a person can spend a bit more there are definitely other models we would recommend, visit our home page to see a list of different options which you also might want to consider.

With that said, if the most you can afford is a model priced liked the this Sunny Health & Fitness we do believe this one holds some value. However, we would only recommend this to people who are planning to exercise by walking or jogging. Don’t buy this one thinking it is a marathon trainer.
