Proform 505 CST Treadmill priceIf you are looking for more information on the Proform 505 CST Treadmill here we will review what we like and what we don’t like about this model and also throw in a couple alternative recommendations you might want to consider.

This model first hit the market in the year 2014, initially priced at $1000. Give or take a few bucks depending the store. Now in late 2015, the going price is right around $600. The lowest price we have since so far is at Amazon $598 – includes free shipping.

With that said we do consider the low price a positives about this treadmill. You can basically think of it as paying under $600 for a $1000 model.

What about performance and features

Proform 505 CST Treadmill reviewBesides the discounted price, we like a few other things about the Proform 505 CST model. First, the model is fairly sturdy, capable of handling up to a 300 lbs person for walking, jogging or running workouts.

The model also includes incline (10% grade) this is great for those who want to add a little more difficulty to their normal workout.

For those who don’t have a lot of space to spare. This is also a folding treadmill.

Something else, this is probably more important to those looking for a home treadmill for running. The running platform (tread belt) is long enough at 55 inch for a runners longer strides and the 2.5 horsepower (h.p.) can take you up to speeds of 10 miles per hour.

The center console is decent. Providing digital controls for speed, incline, workout selecting and also provides controls for volume settings of the speakers.

Also, if you are the type of person who likes to read during your workout or if you just like to place a book or magazine over the digital timer. The center console also is larger enough to make a good bookshelf.

Any warning! Anything we don’t like

Proform 505 CST Treadmill priceOverall, it’s not perfect but the Proform 505 CST Treadmill does provide a good amount of value for a price under $600. If all we had in our pocket to spend was $600 this is definitely one of the top choices available.

However, if you can spare to spend a bit more there are we would recommend the Horizon Fitness t101-04 treadmill (Price $699)

As you can see from the customer ratings image on the right. Just about half the people who bought this model gave it a 5-star review. Sure there are some lower star ratings. You will get this with pretty much every treadmill you examine.

If you combine the percents in the 3-5 star categories this adds up to 85% of the people who bought the treadmill being at least satisfied with their purchase.

The lower ratings

Personally, we would not give this model a 5-star rating but we were satisfied with its performance, we would rate it between 3.5 and 4 stars.

Many of the lower ratings you see are due to the person having difficulty when assembling the unit. You definitely do want to make sure the unit is assembled proper if you expect it to work. If you are not a mechanically inclined person you will want to seek help from a friend or family member, or pay for someone to assembly it for you.

Not all lower ratings were due to problems with assembly. Some were shipping complaints, others about customer service. There were some but a minority of complaints were about defective parts and/or the treadmill not functioning properly.

The bottom line

Not to make excuses for this model but the complaints on the Proform 505 CST Treadmill are not out of the ordinary and similar to what you would read about most every model on the market.

Also keep in mind a dissatisfied customer is much more likely to come back to express their complaints compared to a satisfied customer. So there are likely hundreds of satisfied owners who never bothered to come back and rate the model.

Overall, for $600 does provide value. But also keep in mind this model isn’t going to match the more expensive models you may have worked-out on at your local gym. Some of the models at the gym probably cost well over $1000, if not $2000.

If you are looking to spend less than $1000 then take a look at our home page where we list our top picks in this price range.
