ProForm 6.0 RT Treadmill ReviewProForm 6.0 RT Treadmill Review

If you are interested in this ProForm model, we are guessing you are looking for a very affordable home treadmill. We don’t know how much you want to spend, again, we are only guessing but probably under $1000. If you have looking at the different options available in this price range then you have probably noticed there are a ton of different options to choose from.

The market is absolutely flooded with different models here, which makes it very challenging to buy the right one. There are some good and some bad. Many people probably do get suckered into buying one of the bad models.

Features? What are you talking about!

After testing the ProForm 6.o RT treadmill and forming an opinion on the overall performance and capabilities of this model, before writing our review we like to check what other review sites have to say.

We read a review on livelongerrunning.com talking about how you need to know what features you want in order to make the right choice when choosing an affordable treadmill. Maybe we misunderstood their use of the word features?

When we think of the meaning of the word “features”, we think of extras or accessories. Such as heart rate monitor, built-in speakers, training programs. Whatever treadmill you end up buying, your decision should definitely not be based on the these extra features.

The most important qualities

Whether you are shopping for an affordable home treadmill or a super expensive deluxe model there are five core areas you will want to have knowledge of. Having this knowledge will help you compare and contrast different models and ultimately allow you to make the best buying decision.

  •  Motor
  • Tread belt
  • Frame
  • Cushion System
  • Warranty

For some people two other areas may be of high importance: Incline and does it fold-up to save space.

Once you have an understanding of the qualities mentioned above then you can move on to the certain “extras” provided.

Qualities of the ProForm 6.0 RT Treadmill

  • Motor – This model does have the right type of motor a CHP (Continuous Duty Horse Power). Mae sure you buy a model with a CHP, these are the most durable and also provide the smoothest and most consistent turning of the tread belt.

It also has an internal cooling system to extends it’s lifetime compared to other motor types.

How much horse power? The motor is rated at 2.5 horse power. Considering the price of this model this is actually very good.

  • Tread belt – Two things you will want to pay attention: Belt size and ply (thickness and durability).

The tread belt dimensions (width x length) of this model are 18 x 55 – inches. While the 55-inches in length is very good and will allow taller people with longer strides to feel comfortable, the 18-inches in width is a tad narrow in our opinion.

This tread belt is 1-ply. This is thin but very common for home treadmills in this price range.

  • Frame – The weight limit or capacity of this model is 300 lbs. Meaning a 300 pound person can be supported and use this model.

This is a steel frame, the total weight of the unit is 160 pounds. It compares well to other models in price range.

  • Cushion System – A treadmill with a good cushion system is definitely desirable as it will lessen the force of impact on joints in the legs, hips and ankles.

The level of cushion provided doesn’t compare to more expensive models but for the price range it preforms well. It’s a step up from walking on concrete.

  • Warranty – This is pretty boring stuff but very important.

The warranty on this model includes 25 years on the motor, 1-year on parts and labor. Overall, it’s not a bad warranty. The motor is the most important part and 5 years is very good. Many of the models in this price range will only give 5 to 10 years on the motor.

The Bottom Line

In the under $500 price range, our opinion is a the ProForm 6.0 RT is a good choice. but at the same tie we would also recommend spending a couple extra 100 dollar bills on a higher quality model. If you can, we have many choices for you
