Quality of Motor: Performance and Warranty

Quality Motor?

We were recently asked a few questions on LifeSpan TR 1200i Folding Treadmill. A few of these pertained to the quality and durability of its motor. Read below to see how we responded.

If you are thinking about buying a home treadmill one of the most important features to understand is the quality of the motor. This is important from both quality and performance perspectives but also in regards to the warranty provided.

How do we rate the quality? When looking at different treadmill models you will come across different styles of motors. One of these styles is called Continuous Duty Rated Horsepower (CHP). Most of the time you will see the acronym CHP in the product description and/or specification when referencing this style.

The CHP is what you want as it is the most efficient and durable style. The LifeSpan TR 1200i comes with a 2.5 horsepower CHP. Although there is more to speak on we do rate the quality of this model’s motor high.

Performance? Above we rated the quality high, however, this does not mean it is a high performance motor. It will do just fine for walkers and joggers, however, when we think of high performance, we think of running. The good news is many people do run on this model. The top speed is 11 MPH.

We must say this, a 2.5 horsepower motor is the absolute smallest we would recommend to those wanting to buy a running treadmill for their home.

What the warranty says? Not only what does it say but what knowledge can we gain by reading the warranty? What we can tell you, the LifeSpan TR 1200i’s warranty is very good when it comes to the motor. It provides a lifetime guarantee.

Some treadmills will only provide 10 or 5-year guarantees some even less. When you receive a lifetime guarantee this shows the company is very confident in the quality of their product.
