Warranty and guarantees of the Horizon Fitness T101-04 Treadmill

by Jack on March 16, 2016

The Horizon Fitness T101-04 Treadmill won’t fit the needs of every person but certainly provides both quality and value considering the affordable price. If this is currently one of the models you are interested in buying, here we want to talk about the “warranty” and whether or not it provides appropriate coverage.

Other important areas you tolook at before buying a treadmill are:

Is there a Warranty?

Is there a Warranty?

Below you can find information on this model’s warranty and how we judge it but there are four other important areas to look at when making your decision:

  • Motor
  • Frame
  • Cushion System
  • Tread Belt

What’s covered in the warranty

Usually four main areas are covered: Motor, frame, parts and labor. If the model you are looking at doesn’t include some type of protection or guarantee in these areas then this is a “red flag” for low quality.  So what type of protection does this Horizon Fitness model provide:

  • Motor – Lifetime
  • Frame – Lifetime
  • Electronic Parts – 2 years
  • Labor – 1 year

For what its worth and taking this model’s price into consideration we give this warranty an excellent rating! Yes, you only get two years on electronic parts and one year on labor. However, the most important areas to focus on is the lifetime guarantees provided for both the motor and frame.

Due to the cost, if either the motor or frame were to break and you had to pay out of your pocket for a replacement, in many cases it would be wiser to just buy a brand new treadmill.

On the other hand, a lot of times if you have to you can do the labor yourself. Or you may have a friend or relative who can help you. If neither of the first two options possible then you can always find a local handyman. You might have to pay them for an hour of work which shouldn’t break your bank account.

Electrical parts are under warranty for two years. This isn’t bad. More expensive models, costing thousands of dollars more might provide 3, 5 or 7 years on parts.

Judging quality based on the warranty

This can really be useful! Knowing you have a warranty after dropping a load of cash on something does provide a level of comfort. But you can also and should use it as a way of gauging the quality of an item before you buy it.

As we said, the motor and frame of the Horizon Fitness T101-04 Treadmill are both guaranteed for life. Now, maybe, you are currently trying to decide between this model and another, or maybe even a couple other choices. Make sure to examine the warranties of all these choices. If you see one of your choices only guarantees the motor and frame for 10 years or even less then you should assume it is a lower quality model compared to the models that are providing lifetime guarantees.
